"I did not learn this from a book. I learned it at the feet of a Master"

The healing we offer at Iboga Forest is not an interpretation of the Bwiti tradition—it is a direct transmission of it. We act as a bridge between ancient indigenous wisdom and modern trauma/addiction recovery, while establishing absolute safety and trust. We are proud to be an initiated center under the guidance of Moughenda Mikala, a 10th Generation Nima (Shaman) of the Missoko Bwiti.

Who is Moughenda Mikala?

My approach to healing is a unique synthesis of my heritage and my training.

Moughenda is widely recognized as one of the most important figures in the modern history of Iboga. He is the bridge between the ancient forest and the modern world.

Born into Medicine: Moughenda’s journey began before he was even born. He first ingested Iboga in utero through his mother and began his apprenticeship as a young child under his maternal grandfather, a renowned Shaman.

A 10th Generation Nima: He holds a lineage that stretches back unbroken for ten generations.
In Gabon, he serves as the Spiritual Director of his community (“Moughenda’s Village”), where he oversees not just healing, but the weddings, funerals, and conflict resolutions of the tribe.

The Bridge to the West: Moughenda is unique among traditional Shamans because he is fluent in English, French, and Spanish. He was chosen by the Spirit of Iboga to reveal itself to the Western world. He understands the “Western Mind”—our specific traumas, addictions, and anxieties—and has adapted the ancient Bwiti codes to treat them effectively without diluting the tradition.

Our Connection

Sande Lewis traveled to Gabon to live in Moughenda’s village, undergoing the rigorous Nganga Training.

We do not just “serve” Iboga; we follow the specific protocols, songs, and rituals taught to us by Moughenda.
We maintain a direct line to the village. When you heal with us, you are held not just by our team, but by the prayers and support of the entire community in Gabon.

“You cannot have Iboga without Bwiti.” This is Moughenda’s core teaching, and it is the foundation of our center. We honor him, the Missoko lineage, and the spirit of the medicine by keeping the tradition pure.
